Discover the history of Dubai whilst walking through its old parts and the markets, where you can try your skills in bargaining. Enjoy a short boat ride on the Creek and indulge in an arabic dinner.
In this tour we want to discover more of Dubai's history, even if it is not a very long one. The first Bedouins came here in the late 18th century and found a water source which made it possible to settle. This water source is located in the old Fort Al Fahidi, the oldest stone building in Dubai which is today the Dubai Museum. We will explore the old Al Fahidi area called Al Bastakiya and we will visit the famous markets in Dubai. Here we call the markets Souks. The Textile Souk in Bur Dubai is our first stop to do some shopping. After a short boat ride on one of the traditionell Abras - water taxis, we reach Deira with the famous Spice- and Gold Souk. Here you can bargain to get best prices for safran, pepper, cardamom, cinnamon or nutmeg. Later on you can get excited by seeing the biggest gold reloading site in the Middle East with more than 200 gold shops. All of them offering different kind of jewelry and you have to give your best in bargaining to get a good price here.
After all the shopping you might get hungry. Our very special dinner place is located in the oldest area in Dubai. Here is the place where the transformation of Dubai from a bedouin desert stretch to a lively trading hub in the gulf region happened. You can enjoy typical arabic cuisine with fresh fish, lamb or chicken as well as far eastern cuisine.
